2/018 GLENBORRODALE WOODLAND

Lead Organisation: Royal Society for the Protection of Birds
Total Cost: £33,000
Millennium Commission Grant: £6,000

Through this project, part of the internationally important oakwoods along the north shore of Loch Sunart have been restored and regenerated. Deer fencing and the removal of over 5 ha of exotic conifers will allow the expansion of the oakwood through natural regeneration. In conjunction with the RSPB reserves warden the local school has been actively involved in the design of a display of environmental project work and preparation of interpretative material, which links the site with other nearby visitor attractions. Improvement of a small car park and footpath has facilitated public access within the woodland which lies close to the Millennium Forest native woodland restoration project 1/128, run by Forest Enterprise.
