The Life Science Trust is a charity established to research, teach and promote educational methods that enable people to discover a healing and spiritual connection with the natural world. The Trust owns Pishwanton Wood, near Gifford in East Lothian, 24 ha of previously neglected mixed woodland, grassland and wetland. This project has seen the start of the re-establishment of a typical Southern Upland woodland habitat founded on sustainable forestry methods and using natural materials and tools wherever possible. A network of paths, including a circular route for wheelchair use, has been established and the site is being used for a variety of educational and public events aimed at complementing the work of the Life Science Trust. A cruck-frame barn has been constructed adjacent to the woodland as part of an MFS Millennium Award project.
