Lying on the north side of Loch Ness, this 163ha wood lies adjacent to the Abriachan Community Forest (project 3/008) and comprises two blocks of woodland either side of the road up to Abriachan. It was purchased by The Woodland Trust in 1995 with considerable support from the local community and its natural range of species is being restored - mainly birch, hazel, oak and ash. Terrain constraints have restricted most of the operational activity to the southern block. An old cart track running uphill from the lochside provides a link with series of paths, including links with Abriachan Community Forest. Management of the woods has included the felling of scattered blocks of exotic conifers, the continued regeneration of native trees and the maintenance of open ground to encourage a greater diversity of habitats and species.
